global awareness committee
The Educational Excellence Committee for Texas is composed of seven committees: Legislation, Research, Music, Women in the Arts, Personal and Professional Enrichment, Programs and Service Projects, and Global Awareness. Each committee fulfills one or more of the DKG purposes, the mission statement, and the vision statement. The primary purpose of the TSO Global Awareness Committee is to promote the global projects, initiatives, and goals of DKG International. Those include Girls Initiative to Revitalize Learning and Success (GIRLS) Fund supporting educational access for girls in Africa; Supporting Early-career Educators (SEE); General Consultative Status with the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO); and involvement with the Committee for Teaching About the United Nations (CTAUN). The Global Awareness Committee also strives to provide members with activities, programs, and projects that advance global awareness both in the chapter and in the classroom.
