Membership success stories shared with DKGTexas Membership Committee.
|
Lambda Omicron in Area 8 has grown its chapter by simply being welcoming, visible, and active in the everyday life of educators and the community. Members regularly talk with potential candidates at school and around town, personally invite them to meetings, and open nearly every event to guests. From mixers and fundraisers to informative programs, service projects, and fun social gatherings, there is always something happening that gives people a chance to see what the chapter is all about. Their recruitment mixer, where invited guests enjoy food, learn the chapter’s history, and hear about DKG’s mission and benefits, has been especially effective. By offering a mix of meaningful programs, fellowship, and community service, they make it easy for people to feel connected and interested before they ever join.
Behind the scenes, their success comes from keeping everyone involved and engaged. Every member serves on committees, meetings happen monthly, and communication is consistent, so no one feels left out. Active teachers play a key role by inviting colleagues and staying connected to campuses. After merging with another chapter, they built stronger relationships by rotating meeting locations and making sure everyone felt included. Once new members join, they jump right in—helping with projects, attending events, and learning about DKG together. Overall, Lambda Omicron’s growth comes from simple, steady efforts: personal invitations, shared responsibility, and creating a friendly place where educators want to belong. |

U.S. Forum General Member meeting
|
Last summer at International Conference, the U.S. Forum amended its Guidelines to allow states, chapters or individual members to submit resolutions, the adoption of which would form the basis of Forum advocacy activities. The amendments also allowed for virtual meetings to consider and vote on said proposed resolutions.
On Feb. 16, 2026 at 7:00 PM CST, the Forum will hold its first General Membership meeting via zoom. ALL DKG members residing in the US and Puerto Rico are eligible to attend and to vote. A simple majority of those in attendance is required to adopt a resolution. To attend, members must register for the meeting. Registrants will receive the zoom link, copies of the proposed resolutions and directions for voting. Click on the image to the left to download a flyer describing this event with the registration link. As a person who has expressed interest in Forum activities and advocacy issues, I hope you will be able to attend the meeting. Please share this with other members from your chapter and state.
